Two Arrested Over Twifo Praso Seamstress Murder: Police Say Rejected Love Led to Tragic Ritual Killing
Ghanaian police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of 21-year-old seamstress Tahiru Zenabu, whose body was found in her room at Kokoase, Twifo Praso, on April 3, 2025.
The suspects, Richard Armah (28), a mechanic, and Isaac Arhin (24), known as “Fresh DJ,” both residents of Twifo Praso, were arrested after police traced Zenabu’s missing phone, which Armah had in his possession. According to Central North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Abraham Acquaye, Armah had shown romantic interest in Zenabu, but she declined.
Armah reportedly turned to Arhin for help, who introduced him to a spiritualist. They allegedly performed a ritual known locally as “for girls”—believed to influence women romantically. When it didn’t work, Arhin and the spiritualist are said to have assaulted and killed Zenabu, then handed her phone to Armah, leading to their arrests.
Evidence found at the scene included a piece of cloth tied around her neck, bloodstains, a glue container, a condom wrapper, and an apple. Her body was taken to Twifo Praso Government Hospital for an autopsy.
DCOP Acquaye urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with police investigations, which he said were well advanced. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
The tragic murder of Tahiru Zenabu has shaken the Twifo Praso community. While the police have been commended for their swift response, the incident highlights the dangers of harmful beliefs and unchecked desperation. As the investigation continues, authorities are encouraging anyone with relevant information to come forward and support justice for the young victim.
