Grave Desecration in Amefinukope: Five Bodies Exhumed, Heads Missing
Residents of Amefinukope in the Ketu South Municipality of Ghana's Volta Region are reeling from a disturbing discovery: five exhumed bodies found in two local cemeteries, all missing their heads. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, has left the community in shock and mourning.
According to community leader Mr. Kwashi Senaya, the graves, belonging to the Amefinu and Kponor families, were found desecrated, with visible damage at the head end. “The heads of the deceased were gone,” he reported, highlighting the gruesome nature of the act.
The matter has been reported to the Ghana Police Service at the Agbozume Police Station. Authorities have since launched a full investigation to identify and apprehend those behind what many are describing as a heinous and sacrilegious act.
Assembly Member for the Logove Electoral Area, Ibrahim Ayuba, has appealed for calm, urging residents to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies. He also encouraged community members to volunteer any information that may assist the police in their ongoing inquiries.
As the investigation unfolds, the community continues to grapple with fear, outrage, and unanswered questions over the motive behind the desecration of the graves.
