Forget EIU Projection, NPP Shall Surely Win Election 2024 – Kojo Oppong Nkrumah Assures

Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is on a sure path to winning election 2024 despite a projection by EIU in favour of the opposition.

The Economist Intelligence Unit has projected that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will emerge victorious in election 2021.

According to EIU, the norm of Ghanaians voting in a new government after eight years is the basis for their projection and they believe that will surely be the phenomenon.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah at a press conference held on Sunday, March 21, 2021, said the NPP government has served Ghanaians well and they believe the eight-year jinx will surely be broken in 2024 where their mandate will be renewed.

“We are very much aware of this tendency [as observed in the EIU report], but we believe that this whole thing where every 8 years even when the country is making progress, power changes hands, it is something that can actually set us back.”

“That is why this administration intends to work very hard to retain the confidence of the people by the time that our second term mandate is done. So that we can break the 8 years cycle.”

“So it will ordinarily be a risk but it is a phenomenon that we are akin to break and this expectation that every 8 years power changes hands, which is what is informing what they have put out there, is one that we intend to break,” the Minister added.

Meanwhile, some individuals have expressed public interest in leading the party in the 2024 election.

The likes of Alan Kyeremenateng, Afriyie Akoto, Vice President Bawumia and Matthew Opoku Prepempeh are all in line in leading the NPP in the 2024 polls.

The NDC on the other hand will surely be settling on former President Mahama as he remains their surest bet.
